By creating an account or using Expentomy ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using Expentomy, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and will use the Service in accordance with all applicable laws.
Expentomy is a personal finance scheduling tool that helps users organise accounts, track expenses and income, plan debt repayment, and generate financial schedules. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use only.
New accounts receive a 7-day Trial Membership at no cost. No credit card is required to begin. At the end of the Trial Membership period, you must subscribe to a paid plan to continue using the Service. Trial Membership eligibility is at our sole discretion and may not be available to users who have previously held a subscription.
Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
We reserve the right to change subscription prices at any time. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. Contact billing@expentomy.com for billing inquiries.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to use a strong, unique password, keep two-factor authentication enabled, and notify us immediately at security@expentomy.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or other accounts; reverse-engineer or extract our source code; transmit malware or harmful code; use automated bots or scrapers; resell or commercially exploit the Service; or interfere with the Service's operation.
Pro and Family plan subscribers may optionally connect bank accounts via Plaid. By connecting a bank account, you authorise Expentomy to retrieve your account balances via Plaid and agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. We do not store your banking credentials. Balance data retrieved from Plaid may not be real-time — do not rely solely on Expentomy balance data for financial decisions.
The Service, including all software, algorithms, calculation logic, and designs, is owned exclusively by Expentomy and protected by copyright and trade secret law. You retain ownership of the financial data you enter. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Financial schedules and projections are estimates based on data you provide and are not guarantees of future outcomes.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EXPENTOMY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS, OR (B) $50 USD.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Expentomy and its officers, employees, and agents from claims arising out of your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violations of these Terms. You may terminate your account by contacting legal@expentomy.com.
The Family plan includes an Owner (the subscriber who pays) and up to 4 additional Members invited by the Owner. Each Member receives their own independent login and full access to Pro-tier features.
Each Member must accept these Terms of Service independently when accepting a Family plan invitation. Members are individually responsible for the accuracy of their own data and compliance with the Acceptable Use policy.
Family Members' financial data is completely private. The Owner cannot view, access, or export any Member's accounts, expenses, schedules, or other financial data. Members cannot view the Owner's data or other Members' data.
The Owner is responsible for managing invitations and membership. The Owner is NOT liable for a Member's misuse of the Service.
If the Owner cancels or downgrades from the Family plan, all Members will be downgraded to the Basic plan at the end of the Owner's billing period. Members will receive an email notification. Members' data is preserved — they may subscribe individually to restore full access.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the financial data you enter. Expentomy generates schedules, projections, and alerts based on the data you provide. Inaccurate input will produce inaccurate output. We are not responsible for financial decisions made based on incorrect data entry.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be attempted through informal negotiation by contacting legal@expentomy.com. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration shall take place in Virginia or remotely at the claimant's election. Each party shall bear its own arbitration costs, except that Expentomy will pay arbitration filing fees for claims under $10,000.
You agree that disputes will be resolved on an individual basis only. You waive the right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration provision shall be void and disputes shall be resolved in state or federal courts in Virginia.
Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an alternative to arbitration.
Expentomy shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of nature, third-party service outages (Plaid, Stripe, hosting infrastructure), internet disruptions, government actions, or cyberattacks.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Expentomy regarding the Service, superseding all prior agreements.
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. Expentomy may assign its rights in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided the assignee agrees to honour these Terms.
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
